Pop singer is sad
Christina Aguilera is down in the dumps following her separation from husband Jordan Bratman. In an intimate interview with Redbook, the singer admits she’s struggling to stay positive. “It’s not easy, and there have been a lot of tears and sadness,” she said.
The singer declined to tell the magazine about the reasons behind the split or comment on rumors of infidelity. “Out of respect for my husband, I prefer to keep the specifics private. Right now, I’m just trying to figure out how to make it through each day,” she said.
On Oct. 12, Aguilera officially filed for divorce. In the documents, Aguilera cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. According to RadarOnline.com, she is asking for joint legal and physical custody of their son Max and that both parties pay their own legal fees. She also requested that all spousal support be terminated.
The papers list Sept. 11, 2010, as the date of separation, and also confirm that the couple had a prenuptial agreement. In the prenup, Aguilera specifically requested that the courts deem her “miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects” as well as her “earnings and accumulations … before marriage, during marriage and from and after the date of separation” as separate property.
Aguilera and Bratman met in 2002 and married in a lavish ceremony in 2005. They remain united in their commitment to their son, Max, 2.
“Thankfully, I have Max to keep me on a sane path,” she said. “His needs and happiness are my top priorities, and my biggest concern is to protect him and make him feel safe.”
