Chelsea Handler To Bring The Funny As Your 2010 VMAs Host! | Celebrity High Magazine

When MTV started checking out potential hosts for this year’s rock-tastic 2010 VMAs, there were three important criteria that any candidate had to meet:

1. The candidate must be funny, engaging, and have great stage presence.
2. The candidate must be able to tell jokes so scandalous that they could actually cause someone’s grandma to spontaneously catch fire.
3. The candidate must be able to take down Kanye in under 3 seconds if he starts rushing the stage to perpetrate a rehash of last year’s tomfoolery. Chelsea, the star of the hit show “Chelsea Lately” and general purveyor of filthy jokes and brutal honesty, will be taking the stage on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET to host this year’s star-studded awards show. She’ll be only the second female host in the 25-year history of the VMAs, but don’t expect a softer touch just ’cause she has already showed audiences that there’s no topic she’s afraid to tackle. (In fact, the censors had better be ready with some lightning-quick bleeping skills, or else the at-home viewing audience may catch an earful of Things You Can’t Say On Television.)

Chelsea is just the latest in a string of celebs to sign on for an appearance at the VMAs, including presenters Kesha, Nicki Minaj, Ashley Greene and Ne-Yo, and performers Florence and the Machine, B.o.B and Justin Bieber, and — of course — the notorious Kanye. And of course, there’s more to come. But while the full lineup of celeb attendees and winners of the ultra-coveted Moon Men has yet to be decided, one thing’s for sure:
